NASA head Michael Griffin said the space shuttle and the International Space Station were mistakes, and he believes the agency must change its path. Griffin made the remarks in a meeting with USA TODAY's editorial board. Griffin last week announced plans to send astronauts back to the moon in 2018 in a spacecraft resembling the Apollo capsule. He has said the space shuttle was flawed and that the space station was not worth risking human life.
